Glad your okay Kolni. Thank god some cagers out there are paying attention and helpful.
The guy that fixed my pegs sat with me for at least 20 minutes! He even offered to take me home!

I was stunned! I should have gotten his name so I could thank him properly, but I guess I wasn't thinking.

Wow, just glad you're ok man!

Going down at 50mph is some serious stuff. If you can figure out what happened that will at least set your mind at ease so you know what to look out for in the future. So are you thinking you hit your brakes on some oil? I was going down a major road here Wednesday (in my pathfinder) and a landscaping truck had a bunch of huge tree branches just flying off of the back of their truck going down this road..they weren't covered or anything...WTF...

I haven't been down in quite a few years (knock on wood), but I remember my younger days....it seemed like the bike was more important than YOU were. After sliding off the pavement, thru the gravel, and down into a ditch, I ran back up the hill (more like hobbled), to pick up the scoot and make sure it wasn't too tore up.

I wonder if maybe a combination of downshifting (I am assuming you let out the clutch), and braking, had the net effect of MORE rear wheel braking than you were counting on?

Kolni,........Damn, Glad your OK. Theres not much you can do when you hit oil on the road especially if its clear! The only time I hit oil on the road was in a truck, all 4 tires broke loose, slid and bounced of a curb. I almost rode that day, glad I didnt. Glad you rode home thou, best to get right back on. Youll be sore in the morning, surprised your still up now!

glad to here you made out of it so well considering it coulda been so much worse..

not to hijack but i got hit by TWO suv's two weeks ago, one sideswiped me into the other an i went down on the left side but i slid head first with the bike under me, dislocated my shoulder pretty bad and shook me up but the bike and i came out with minor damage considering. I held on with a death grip, twisted the mini apes into a pretzel even but i have to say i think stayin on the bike saved my ***... im sure your feeling as lucky and greatfull as i do about now.. god bless.
