Traveling over a bridge going about 50. Traffic was slowing down so I hit the barkes lightly and down shifted. All of a sudden the right tire kicked out towards the right. At the time I didn't know why, just that I was about to go down.I tried to accelarate to get back up but it was to late, So I laid the bike down on the left side, it started sliding and I still had control. Then all of a sudden the peg grabbed something in the road and flipped the bike back up and crashing down HARD on the right side. That's when I rolled a couple times and the bike roled the other way.
Now, this is a heavily traveled road, luckily the guy behind me was paying attention and so was the guy in the lane to the right of me, they both stopped, got out to dsee if I was okay.
I was kind of shook up so one guy got my bike for me while the other guy walked me to the side of the road.
No one else stopped and a few people almost hit us while I was trying to get to the shoulder.
Some one else saw me fall and he was an EMT so hhe checked me out. I felt okay, just VERY sore on my right side. They stayed with me for awhile to make sure I was okay. One guy even fixed my bent peg and mirror for me. My right leg hurt, right ribs REALLY hurt, elbow all scrapped up and right should bruised and scarped. While we were sitting another truck stopped and the driver got out. He told me he was a fellow rider and saw me go down. Then he said he has never seen a bike flip over like that. He also went into the road and noticed a long thin trail of thin clear oil on the road. Like is was bripping out of the back of a truck or something as it went on for a ways. It wasn't motor oil
I checked out the bike and it looked okay other then scratched mufflers and bent foot peg. I told the guys I was okay and thanked them ALOT. The bike started and I rode it the remaining 7 miles home.
Just got back from the doctor, 1 rib broken, pulled groin muscle, bruised shoulder and road rash on right arm.
I am literally STUNNED I didn't break any other bones!
It was scary as hell but at least I am okay.
If anyone has ideas one hoow to avoid this in the future I am all ears.
Glad to hear you're alright (enough to be able to tell us about it)... I don't think it can be avoided, if you ride going down is inevitable... But you survived it, that's all that matters right now... Be safe[sm=shades.gif]
Man, that is scary. Is this your first wipe out? I hear that it is good to get the first one out of the way. Don't believe it enough to drop my bike, but I am anxiously waiting for it to happen so that I can say that it is good to get the first one out of the way.
Seriously though, doesn't sound like there was anything that you could have done. Actually sounds like you were all over it until the peg caught. Hope you heal quick. Are you gonna hop right back on her?
Glad you came out semi o.k. things could have been much worse!
Exactly on both. Take it easy for a while and get healed up. Unfortunately it is gonna hurt alot worse in the morning. Hope they gave you some of the good stuff.
