Default Filter wrench help

I'm looking for a strap filter wrench that will fit a wix 57148. The specs of the oil filter say the outside diameter is 2 15/16.

I'm trying to make sure I'm getting this correct, I need a strap wrench that says it will work on filters just under 3" right?

I'm thinking the strap type wrench might work around the crank position sensor the best without damaging it.

Thanks guys.

I have used a strap wrench on the oil filter. You are right about the size.

So much easier than a strap wrench or circular filter wrench. But, if you got a new bike, you still have 1 oil change with the crappy filters to get past.

Think you will be better off with a metal cup one. CAL-VAN 789 works fine. It's 2.937 across flats. (74.5MM) 14 flats. You will need to take your hacksaw and notch it across 3 flats 7/16" deep. Or get a Harley one with the notch.

I notched mine since I already had it and it still works for my other use.

Why do I need the notch? I use a pressed steel cup type filter wrench that I’ve always used with my Harleys and it fits fine with no notch necessary.
