Question stalls when warm

first ride of year and once warm my wifes 2000 fat boy dies like 15 minutes into it , no sputter or anything its just like she hit the kill switch. 15 min. later it starts and runs fine for like 1 min. and then the same it just dies. No skipping or sputtering its just like you shut key off.. I believe it is a bad coil as this is not a fuel injected motor/ it just shuts off with not skipping sputtering or bucking .Any help would be appreciated.

How old is the battery , before investing in parts , I would charge it up and get it load tested , a dead cell can be the root of all evils , check cables too , both ends . Yes , I do agree , a bad coil could cause this issue , check the connector and trace back the wiring for breaks or damage / loose pins etc , getting an inline spark tester would tell you if it's a coil issue , but testing the battery and doing some simple voltage tests would tell you if you have a bad voltage regulator as well ( similar symptom ) . Both the coil and voltage reg can cause issues when they heat up .

Another thing to check might be the 30amp circuit breaker , could be faulty .

Good luck .

Sounds like the ignition sensor is failing when hot.

Here's another vote for the 30 amp breaker.

I know this issue well. 875Guy is on the right track. On our 2000 bikes, there are actually very few issues that can make them stop. One of them is the tip over sensor, It's called a Bank Angle Sensor on our bikes.
Later it was integrated into the turn signal and theft system.
When it happens again, turn the ignition off and then back on again, even while you are riding. If it starts right away, then you have found your issue.
It's behind he cover in front of the rear tire.
Good luck!
