Default leak down test

Before my warranty runs out on my stock Sport Glide, I would like my dealer to do the leak down test. I want to make sure its healthy. Then doing a stage 2
Any one know what a dealer would charge for one ?

Not a clue but I know the best place to find out. Just get your Stage 2 price and ask for one freebee.

You could just borrow the free compression tester from AutoZone and do it yourself. Just be sure to block open the throttle body wide open. Ground the plug wires.

A leak down is a good second check if your compression is not right. That's all it's good for. It gives you a better idea if it's rings or valves that is the problem. You can hear it.

My question would be "Why the test?" Is the bike behaving like a dog?

That's got me thinking, might be a good idea to do one on my 2007 to head off any future issues. I probably should get a bore scope as well.

Not at all, she runs good. But just in case it doesn't pass, I will get a great deal on my stage 2. Or I will have to pay for the test, but then I will know the top end is in good condition.

If it runs good and doesn't smoke or burn oil, I don't think you need a leak down test. If you can get it tested for free, why not. I wouldn't spend any money on it though.

Don't we know that the Harley Mentality is to keep fixing things until something's broken? If the bike runs good, leave it alone!

In aviation there's an expression, "If in ain't broke - don't fix it."
That said, if you want a Stage II talk to your dealer and see what they can do.

I had one doen on mine at the warranty. the new passable rate is 25%. That is crap. I was at 18% They charged me like 80 bucks, 45 minutes time. If I had complained of it bogging down or loosing power the warranty might have covered it

Doubtful. The service manual says 25% is in spec.
