I am almost positive, all things being equal, a Street Glide and a Street Bob payment will always be higher than a Sportster payment.

If you want a different motorcycle, then buy it. If that dealer won't do the deal, go somewhere else.

I am calling TOTAL BS
a. Theres not a salesman on the PLANET that will sell you a 12k bike when you want a 28k bike
b. Theres not a person in the world who wouldnt go to another dealer
c. I dont know a soul who wants a touring bike buying a Sportster

Ride it be happy but if you ride with crocks, be sure to not wear socks.

Being a new rider I can see a lot of salesmen not wanting to sell the OP a Street Glide. The Bikes and Beards guy on YouTube goes around to see if he can pass himself off as wanting the fastest motorcycle on the floor for a first motorcycle and AFAIK, they all try to sell a more reasonable first motorcycle.
