Have you considered a Corbin? They do have those years broken out too.

I like their products. A bit of a wait but you can choose the colors and patterns.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for belated reply. PC crashed on me. Won't bore you with all the techie stuff. Had to reload Windows OS, etc. Total nightmare. Tip: Go Linux/Kubuntu. Trust me.

After MUCH reading, videos, etc over many moons on all brands on every website in existence, ebay included, I really liked everything I read about Saddlemen. In addition, even though what they sent me didn't fit properly, I at least did have the pleasure of holding their product in my hands and was duly impressed on both a visual and quality level. Their cust svc is excellent too. Both those points, in that order, cemented my focus on a Saddlemen.

We went back & forth many times via e-mail with sending many pics and they were very helpful the whole time. Unfortunately, they said shipping my stock seat out to them wouldn't help as they take their measurements straight from the bike itself. They build their pans from scratch w/o any reference to/against the stock seat. I told them that since the only problem is the actual length of the passenger portion, I was hoping they could reference my stock seat just for the purpose of it's length but they said that wouldn't help on their end. The issue with the seat they sent is that the passenger seat section is 1.5" too short and the bracket is 2" too short to reach the rear fender mount screw. For the time being, the tech who helped me said he's keeping the returned seat next to his desk and may look further into it when or if he gets a breather here or there in his work day.

I spoke to Mean City Cycles but they don't do anything in the interest of modifying/re-shaping pans. As for ebay and all other manufacturer sites in existence, it seems I'm the real runt of the litter because there's something truly unique about not just 2004-05 Dynas but 2004-05 Wide Glide models in particular.

As for the Mustang, I just can't seem to 'connect' with the look. It's just silly personal preference. I'm sure they're right up there on top with quality, etc, but I was just drawn to Saddlemen for various reasons. It does seem though it may be my only hope so far.

I'm going to keep looking for even a stock HD seat of desired pan shape and, if I find one cheap enough that fits the bill, would call Mean city. Northern NJ to central NC ain't exactly 'round th' corner but I'll figure it out if it comes to it. For sure there's no way I'd make the ride on my stock seat! Ow oww oooo ouch... (Maybe duct tape and a sofa pillow?..)

I'll remove my phone # as suggested. I need to get familiar with the general protocol. Will work on it. Not too familiar with the whole spam thing but I can assure you I'm a real breathing person.

Thanks very much. I appreciate everyone giving the time and writing back.

I know the 04-05 dyna seats are different than other years but I wasn't aware the wide glides were special. I would cross reference through a parts book to confirm. My saddlemen seat too hard and I removed from my king.

Hi Sleighcrane - and others,

Yeah, it seems in quite a few places where seats for '04 - '05 Dyna's for those 2 particular years are advertised - unless I'm continuously misinterpreting it - that I'm always seeing "Except FXDWG/Wide Glide". Even Saddlemen has listings on a separate page specifically for Wide Glides which seem to fall outside the general Dyna category.

I did look at Corbin too but I'm on the fence with them based on many reviews saying they never break in and always remain too hard. Of course everyone's 'seat' (ahem) is different but I'm still keeping them in the back of mind.

Surprise in that I actually just now found a really super beat up used seat on ebay that came off an '04 Wide Glide. It has an obviously wider rear area than mine and I sent a note to the seller asking for a width measurement. Hopefully wide enough where the wife isn't too un-comfy.

P.S. - Currently going crazy trying to figure out how to edit my original post so to omit my phone # as suggested. There's no edit button anywhere. So if anyone sees me doing weird or strange stuff over the next few posts, it's just from trying to get familiar with the features of the forum. I'm hoping too that in time I'll gain more HD experience so to help others out by 'paying it forward' so to say (or something like that).

Thanks,
Spacehog
