Default Saddlemen Seats - Favor to ask

Hi everyone,

I hope it's OK that I'm reaching out for help with a long-shot question/issue/request like this. I joined some time ago but haven't posted at all - mainly due to the fact that I'm still learning my way around bikes (I still bleed green when I cut myself) - although I've been lurking in the shadows a lot by reading a lot of stuff in various threads on various topics.

I have a 2004 Wide Glide (FXDWG) and, according to Saddlemen, '04 - '05 Wide Glides in particular are unique somehow in their frame design and call for a seat pan unique to those 2 years only. Even though their website shows availability for a Saddlemen Explorer seat designed for those 2 years, they in fact don't have the ability to build one due to lack of a pan template and, as per conversation with them, would need to actually see an '04 - '05 Wide Glide in person at their shop so to take measurements. Seems it specifically has to be a Wide Glide. No Superglide, etc.

So my really-super-long-shot question is if there's actually anyone who owns an '04 - '05 FXDWG that lives in southern California who would be willing - assuming you were 'that' bored and have 'that' kind of time on your hands - to take a ride over there and have them pop off your seat so to take measurements for a template from which they could use to build one of their Explorer seats.

Saddlemen looks to be about 15 - 20 miles south of Los Angeles as seen on Google maps at 17801 S Susana Rd. Rancho Dominguez, CA 90221. (310-638-1222)

I'd of course, w/o question, be willing to pay someone whatever it comes too for their time, gas, lunch, etc on this and arrange the favor-payment in any way desirable.

As much as I'd love a 3-week long road trip to the store for the newspaper, California isn't exactly around the corner from me being I live in the northeast corner of NJ which is why I'm reaching out. Plus my wife wouldn't be too thrilled on me leaving her with 2 little ones at home for that long while I pretend to be Billy from Easy Rider drifting my way along to Mardi Gras.

Anyway, I hope it's not beyond acceptable policy or etiquette to reach out and post such a big request like this. If so, I apologize. I also saw somewhere there's something known as 'PM'ing but I'm not at all familiar with how that works so I'll have to leave my cell number which is 201-957-6966. If leaving my number here is also unacceptable as per policy, then apologies for that too. Thanks for the time in reading this.

I'll read up on any website policy as well as how PM-ing works as soon as I can.

Thanks very much,
Charlie

Just contact Mean City Cycles and have them redo your seat. Cheaper than after market and quick turn around. Check out their FB page or website and they are on the East coast.

kinda a big ask. I'd remove my phone # above (assuming this isn't SPAM)

They make seats for your bike https://saddlemen.com/profiler-seat-...ley-davidson-2

Why not hit EBay for a used seat for your bike to start. Then you'd have a seatpan to build on.

why the singular focus on Saddlemen?

Could you ship your seat to them, they could copy the pan maybe.

Yes, can you just ship them your seat for them to take measurements from? Or do they need the bike?

They are doing a seat for me right now. Can't wait to get it.

I have a Mustang seat on mine 5 years and it is comfortable and durable. The Saddlemen company has good customer service at least in my case but after buying a set of bags and them replacing them under warranty I would buy bags elsewhere. The second set did the same thing as the first set and turned to mush like the old studded Heritage Softail bags. There was no structure in the design. just leather riveted together.

My bike’s allot older and the 1 Saddleman seat I have, a Tattoo jell, sucks. After a day trip 10 hour ride the seat stayed hard and my *** hurt. I went back to the Mustang seat, not as cool looking but an all day rider.

I sent Saddlemen the seat on my shovel years ago and they did a fantastic job on it. Just box yours up and tell them what you want.
