[QUOTE=Zakk13;20348671]I've owned many TC Softails. Currently I do not.. Have been riding RoadKings for years now. Just Sold my 2018 RoadKing Special and looking to go back possibly to a Softail.
I just can't rap my mind around the prices of the current Softails. $18k for a Low Rider? $20k+ for a Fat boy or Heritage? And I absolutely hate the style gas tank they have on Softail standard and Street Bob. Nothing in the Current line up really speaks to be as far as style either. I mean look at the Low Rider. It's supposedly the "coolest" one. But in reality it's just a Low Rider with way too much black and baby **** goldish brown wheels. I love the backed out look but it's still needs to be balanced with chrome. I guess the younger new generation 5ft 7 guys like it though. Lol.[/QUOTE deleted.

Ever since Willie G. retired, Harley’s classic American styling has been slowly fading away. Softails don’t look like rigids anymore. The dash on dressers looks high tech, and I’ve never liked the mail slot in the bat wing. I was planning to buy myself a new bike as a retirement gift. (First time ever the wife encouraged me to buy a bike.) Test rode a couple. They had good power and handling. But I eventually had to get off at look at ‘em. I changed my mind and bought a low mileage Electra Glide Classic. I’m now looking for a ‘77 XLCR Cafe Racer to restore.

Times change, I can only imagine a Pan America with skulls on it. He single handedly screwed up the FXR Eric Buell refined by insisting they lean the rear shocks forward around 1986 to make it look more like a Harley at the cost of handling. Talk about going backwards and then they scrapped it and went back to the FX frame . I think the RK is the closest thing they have that looks like the old FL swing arm bikes minus the oil tank of course. Its not a soft tail trying to look like a hard tail. I know this is about soft tails but I think Harley did a better job nailing the RK for classic styling. My 11 RK with my 62 FL.
Ride one you will know. I upgraded from TC to M8 and for me personally it is huge upgrade.HD fixed a lot of things with this new M8. Get 2020 or up if you can.
Im looking at the 2020 slim, Id say the 19 and up are pretty much the same, but as the years went on they made them better and better until 2019. Only negative Id say is the seat hight went up after 16 I think, but its to give yea more clearance for the boards. The M8 has the counter balance, and you dont need the rubber mounts anymore.
People on this forum complain about how the bikes never change, ad nauseum. Then Harley-Davidson overhauls one of it's platforms and delivers a bike line-up that performs very well, but looks different from the outgoing models. And then people complain that it looks "Japanese".
I can't wait to see the reactions here when Harley-Davidson finally overhauls the Touring platform.
Why do you think they haven't redesigned the touring bikes?
