Default difference between softail standard and a nightrain

I was curious if the only difference is appearance and the handlebars.

you'd think very little difference. check the specs on the harley site - likely some difference in seat height..

The biggest difference...not as many people have a Standard.

I'm not sure which ones, but all but 4 Softails have a different cam that shifts the peak tork down a few hundred RPM's and reduces it by some 4 ft/lb. The Night Train is one of the 4 that are spec'ed to be only 1 ft/lb less than than the A engined bikes because of the power used up by the balance shafts.

The softail standard has the silver motor, I chose the night train for the black motor.

Question for you that I haven't been able to figure out.

It seems that a lot of night train owners swap out a lot of the wrinkle black parts (primary cover, rocker covers, etc.) for chrome. Isn't the point of buying a night train getting the blacked out motor, etc? Am I missing something?

I've seen several people who "chromed out" their night train.Makes no sense to me.Bars, seat, risers, wrinkle black oil tank, engine, tranny, primaryand a few other parts.
