I'm only asking because I was surprised to hear people I know say they would not pay. FYI... All I spoke with did not ride. Not sure if that influenced their answer.

It has nothing to do with whether a person rides a motorcycle or not.
You pay for your parts and labor, you don`t steal them.
And you shouldn`t need to ask anyone what you should do in this situation.
It did not start as a question. It began as me telling someone what I did today. A few thought I was crazy for spending that much money, and I told them about the tires and that I would owe them more. That is when the ball got rolling.
Just do the right thing. You know what that is and it's not always pleasant, but it all works out in the end. When you cut through the grass and take a shortcut, that's when you step in dog poop.....
