LOL, same here. My wife will stick something on eBay for maximum price and it sits for a month while she stews. I will sell a car or bike in a week by being realistic, not greedy. The minute I sell it, she tells me I sold too low.

some dealers are getting desperate for inventory, it is February and in a month people will be getting bike fever.

I paid 12500 for my 2017 Kawasaki in 2018, brand new, I sold it to a Kawi dealer here in Florida for 11500 last November, they sold it for 13500

To have a Japanese bike only drop 1K in value over 42 months shows you how stupid the market is and dealers need to have bikes to sell.

You can call the dealer and ask for the used bike buyer, tell them what you have, send them pics, name your price and stick to it.

If it is reasonable they will buy it, if they start playing games with you tell them thank you very much but no thank you and move on to another method of selling.

Actually my local dealer offered me the exact same amount I paid for my CVO last spring just the other day. A couple other local dealers lowballed me, but my closest dealer (where I normally go) gave me a very solid offer. I was surprised. I wasn't selling, but they shot me an email so I thought I'd ask.

Selling is on my mind, but may ride for 1 season then decide to sell or trade my newest bike for a 2023. I been thinking of having only 1 bike before quitting. Approaching 80 too fast. Getting hard to justify 2 bikes. Intend to keep the older bike around for a while.

I'm not sure what the market is like for used bikes right now, but last Spring used bikes were a hot ticket item. Most of the dealerships in my area had very few new bikes on the floor and the used ones they had in inventory were selling for top dollar.

I sold my 09 Road King Classic to a dealership for a few hundred dollars over Kelly Blue Book retail price. The process was so easy, I called them and told them what I had, the sales manager said if the bike is in as good a condition as I said he wanted it so I rode over there the next day. He looked it over and made me an offer, I countered with $500 more than he offered but we settled with $200 more than the original offer.
I could have sold it privately and would probably got another $1000 to $1200 or so but to me it was worth it not to have to deal with listing it, then showing it to 3 or 4 tire kickers and worrying about some yahoo wrecking it on a test ride.

By the way, the day after I sold the it, the dealer listed my Road King on their website for $2300 more than they paid me for it and sold it 2 days later. I was pulling into their parking lot to pick up parts for another bike and passed the new owner riding away on it.

I've sold plenty of Dirt Bikes and Cars on Craigslist without a single problem over the last 15 years.
The only thing with a private sale, is you need a buyer willing to pay cash. If the buyer needs to finance, then to me that's too much of a hassle and I would go to the dealer.
