I put new reflectors back on the fender struts, because they otherwise had a blank spot for reflectors.

Reflector lives matter.

wondering if insurance could deny a claim as you insure bike X but you modified it into bike Y. scary thought IRT liability coverage

No. I’ve been down that road with an insurance company that rhymes with “Psycho.” My client had a night train that was effectively converted to a CrossBones and the adjuster tried to play games. I got
involved and prevailed in a dec. action. Lots of legal aspects to why we won, but long story short = the VIN designation given by the manufacturer trumps any mods. Period.

It was born an Electra Glide. Just because it now identifies as a Road Glide, it doesn't change the fact it started life as an Electra Glide

When a buudy and I did both our fork lowers, I put mine in a lathe and shaved the raised blocks completely off. My buddy put his in a Bridgeport and carved the #1 logo in his. They both turned out awesome.
It was something like 30 years ago, so sorry, no pics.

That post you made about possibly selling it down the road and not wanting to have to explain why the title says Electra Glide but it looks like a Road Glide. Sorry pal but that is what it is, an Electra Glide made into a Road Glide Clone.

Insurance companies will pony up for the increase in value if you notify them, document it to them with pictures and keep them appraised of expenditures and modifications, but you have to pay for that coverage. They cal it " An Agreed To Value" policy. I had one of those once, and may again as the Blue Book on a Shovelhead FXE is very low. You couldn't think of replacing one for that amount.

don't know what insurance you have, but with progressive, if you wreck it, they'll pay you for the police bike, and then the extra for accessory coverage (provided of course that you carry enough coverage) with no depreciation. so you'll actually make out better this way. at least in my experience.
