So the long wait begins. I finally ordered the cruise control module for my 21 Street Bob and I have somewhat of a silly question. If I install the housing and connect it before it gets reflashed at a dealer will everything (besides the cruise control function) work correctly? The reason I ask is because my local dealerships want to charge 2 hours of labor ($260 total) to flash it but if I ride an hour or so away they perform the flash for free. As long as the bike works correctly Im more than happy to ride to another dealer.

Everything will work but the cruise control, my dealer did it for free at the 5k maintenance.

Awesome news. Thank you. Hopefully in the 3+ months it takes my cruise control to come in nothing changes on their end. Hell even if it was only a half hours worth of labor Id still enjoy that over the full 2 hours.

I do use my throttle rocker but my hand will still get cramped up after a long ride. Plus its nice to keep a set speed on the interstate and not have to take my eyes off the road to make sure Im not speeding or going to slow.
Any dealer that charges 2 hours for the software updates needs to be avoided at all costs. It’s a 30 minute operation max, from moving the bike into the bay till moving it back out.
I gave up waiting for the cruise control kit. I actually pieced together the kit by finding a dealer that had the module in stock, and then having my local dealer order the lower switch housing.
I flashed the bike myself with a Diag4Bike tool. It literally takes less than 10 minutes, and that includes removing and reinstalling the left side cover.
You will be ok to ride the bike with the module installed before its flashed.
My Road King started feeling heavy to me last year so I sold it and bought an Evo based Dyna. The only regret I have is giving up cruise control. Man I didn't realize how spoiled I got to hitting that button and kicking back.
No throttle rocker can even come close to actual CC.
