I haven't tuned anyone out. I'm just trying to get as much info as possible. Both sensor connections are black. The wires going into the sensors are the same color. When I look at new sensors for my bike there is no separate numbers stating front or rear.

If you look at the O2 connections on a 2007 Softail, there is only one way to hook them up. Unlike 2010 and newer touring bikes, the sensors are the same part number F&R ( 27683-07), so it doesn't matter which one goes in which pipe. As long as they are plugged in, and functional, he'll be fine.

The 2007 HD Service Manual, the Electrical Diagnostic Manual, and the Digital Technician Manual contain the answer to
the OP's question. The answer can also be found in tuning manuals for 2007 Softails.

Do the also have to be plugged in to the correct spot so the ecm can adjust the correct cylinder, or what am I missing here. Thanks

The wires are too short on a softail to be plugged into the wrong spot.
