Default New horn

Well the stock horn on my 07 bagger was sounding pretty anaemic for a while. Today I had to use it on the highway at 70 mph, I thought WTF was that. Could barely hear it.

When I got home I did a little surfing on the net and it seemed like the Fiamm freeway blaster 72112 low tone had pretty good reviews. So I went down to my local auto parts store and I grabbed one for under $20, I thought, what the heck I'll give it a shot, can't be any worse.

I downloaded a DB app for my phone, this one was from NIOSH. The freeway blaster was advertised as 130 DB. I measured my stock horn it was 99 db, I was actually surprised that it measured that high. I then installed the freeway blaster and measured again. The freeway blaster was 115 db, it fell short of the advertised 130 db but it was noticeably louder, different tone and I'm quite satisfied. It was a 5 minute job, and it does fit in the cowbell. Just thought I would share

Oh, apparently the stock horns on the newer Harleys are louder than the older models. Not sure but I thought there was a change around 2012? So before you run out and swap your stock horn for one of these Fiamm's you might want to check which one you have because there might not be much of a difference if you have one of the newer ones

Jim

I bought a Custom Dynamics Mini Beast horn for my Sportster back in mid 2000's. Moved it to my 2013 Street Glide and then to my 2021 Street Glide. Sounds like a duece-and-a-half and is loud. Mounts on the stock horn mount. Works for me!!

My old dual horn set up quit working so I went to O'Reilly's and bought one of the WoLo train horns, installed it but only one of the two horns worked. Took it back and exchanged it for a pair of plain old hi/lo car horns. I bolted them into the old mount, added a relay and they work great! Loud as all get out.

Horns (on touring models at least) were made louder in 2014 as part of the Project Rushmore upgrades.

I put one of the newer horns on my 2013 Road King and it was a noticeable improvement.

So far my left turn signal seems to work in an emergency.

Harley horns are anemic. Kawasaki (pancake style) horns are embarrassing. I installed the Denali Mini Bombs on both bikes. No relay necessary and I'm quite satisfied.
Seemingly anything beats stock!
