I'm relatively new here...and am still sitting on my thumbs waiting for my new FLHT to arrive...but I'd like to ask a question about these extended warranty offers. Don't mean to highjack this post, though.
Back in '01 I bought a GL1800 and did not get the extended warranty. A few years later...before the factory warranty expired...I was able to buy the extended factory warranty over the internet from a Honda dealer in WA state...for a considerably discounted price.
My question is: Has anyone heard if HD dealers sell extended factory warranties cheaper than the retail price offered by the MoCo? Say, cheaper than what has been offered in this letter.
Extended warranties are a money maker. Be it for Harleys or wide screen TVs. Like someone pointed out not worth it unless you need it. Kind of a nobrainer, but the bottom line is the odds of not needing it are in your favor. If it were the opposite they wouldn't be offering it.
