One of the 1st things they did was cancel the Harley demo truck event, which the dealerhip had hosted for years. Next all the price tags were removed from the bikes, there's absolutely nothing on them now so you don't even know used from new. You ask for a price, the answer is come into my office.

I haven't been back since, but what I'm hearing is they blacked out the prices on all of the merchandise on the floor as well.

Unfortunately this seems to be happening more and more as long time mom and pop type dealerships get swallowed up by these conglomerates.

It really makes me infuriated but the only thing I can do to protest it is take my business elsewhere.
Same out here in PNW. Makes me wonder who's actually buying bikes and gear? This is not a sound business strategy. We can't be the only ones this turns off. But there seems to be an epidemic of poor business tactics in the world today.

Support your locally owned dealerships. I refuse to look at bikes without a price tag. I don’t like being manipulated. Unless it’s by my wife. She’s good at it. 😁

My local dealership, Doc’s Harley (Kirkwood, MO) was sold recently. It was a mom & pop for years and it was bought by a guy who owns Harley dealerships in Indiana & Tennessee. The whole vibe of Doc’s changed overnight, weird stuff like everyone who works on the sales floor now walks around wearing earpieces. They have ton of bikes on the showroom floor, but it’s like they are all the same god damn bike: black baggers.

Unless something has drastically changed since I worked in a dealership, the real money comes from the service and parts departments, not the sales department. The new bike sales were considered a necessary evil by most dealers.

The new owners of Doc's also own Harley Davidson of Fort Wayne (where I live). I spoke to the GM here about Doc's last week. He said that the "corporation" ownership is happy with the acquisition and that they are working with minor employee re-orientation issues. The principal owner is Evan Schipper who also owns Buegrass HD in Louisville, KY (not TN). I'll be riding my Heritage to the St. Louis area today and may stop in. I've heard that Doc's has a great HOG chapter.

It doesn't bother me to not see a price tag on a NEW model because I can see new pricing on Harley's website. But I'm not "going into the office" to see what the price is on a USED model.

Supposedly the new owner is a rider and always wanted a Harley Dealership. Hopefully all will be good or its a long ride to Houston to another dealership.

It better than the dealership closing. Miracle Mile HD and Lighthouse HD in Long Island, NY, closed and were never replaced.

WOW....I bought a Harley from Cowboy in 1980 when they were a two bike showroom on Burnett Road. My have times changed. Here in Colorado John Elway is buying up HD and Powersport dealerships. And the wheels on the bus go round and round.
