Hello all, I hope that someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I went on a ride yesterday using the planner to get from my house to a dealership in Tyler, Tx. It sure seems like I did everything right in the planner but along the route the nav kept telling me to make a u-turn about every 3-4 minutes. Very strange. I ultimately canceled the nav directions along the way because it was getting really annoying. I must be missing something obvious. I checked the route on my laptop today and it all seems good. ? Thanks for your help in advance. Steve
Did you start your route from the start point? You can always skip a waypoint.
You want accuracy? Tape a paper map over the screen.
I did some touring around some remote areas of southwest VA last fall. An old buddy sent me a Nat Geo trail map of the area. It was fantastic. His rides start where the pavement ends so these maps helped me find the remote asphalt routes he was telling me about.
Burkes Garden being one of them.
In order to see any of those routes on nav you have to blow it up so big that you cant even tell where you are in relation to anything else. It does involve some pre-trip planning studying and highlighting the maps, but youll get to see and ride roads you wont easily find otherwise.
I highly recommend them, and they can be purchased from National Geographic.
Ive decided to skip the whole ride planner thing and use CarPlay. It is working great. Ive verified that Ive done everything correctly in the planner but unfortunately Im getting the same results. I thought it might be a fun piece of technology from HD but it shouldnt be this hard. 33 years in the software business and Ive not seen a user interface this wonky. Oh well, maybe itll get better someday. Thanks for all the suggestions.
