Riding is a huge part of my mental health, I always get a little depressed as winter sets in. Anybody else? What do you do when it's parked for a while?
If there's no snow or ice on the roads, I still ride. One just needs to toughen up a good bit and have an American Made leather jacket (mine), a heated jacket liner and gloves, good boots (I wear my now-not-made-anymore Chippewa Arctic 50 when it gets down to ~40F or colder), good wool long-handles, a wind and water proof balaclava, and for me since all I wear is a half-helmet a good pair of goggles. I've ridden in 18 degrees F (~ -5 at 55 mph) and could have ridden the whole night except that one of my glove liners died and I had to stop about every 5 miles to put my hand behind the exhaust, heh.

Sounds Fun...! Not.....One just needs to toughen up a good bit or one just needs to be a little bit psycho? To each his own, but riding in 18 degree weather doesn't say "I'm Tough" to me.. It says a lot of things, but "I'm Tough" is not one of them... I always get a kick out of posts like this. I've lived in WI my entire life, so I know 18 degree days and cold weather. I don't ever see a bike out on the streets, in weather like that...

I have (won't nowadays however), ridden in temps as cold as 7 degrees and if wearing the proper gear it can actually be exhilarating.
I was running late leaving for work one morning and it was 14 degrees. I was in a hurry and didn't put my chaps on which was a mistake.
After I got to work, I felt a burning sensation on my left inner thigh. I had gotten frost nipped during my 20 mile ride.
You normally won't see me out if it's below 40 degrees nowadays.

Ya, like I said.. to each his own riding in temps like that. I never have and never would. Given the fact I live in WI and have never once seen anyone riding in temps like that... I think it's safe to day it's probably about .000001% of riders who have... You have to have something a little cross wired if you ask me.

I don't think I have anything cross wired.
Shorted out and fried is probably more appropriate.
That said, I'll leave you with this.

No worries.. I will never be looking back and say I wish I would have taken my motorcycle for a ride back when it was 10 degrees outside. Never been on my bucket list. . I've looked back on things I've done in the past and said.. I can't believe I did that.. what the hell was I thinking...
