All this MSRP (which IMO is still too high) and MSRP+++ sure makes the 2ndary market look better and better all the time.

My new 2022 ST cost a little under MSRP out the door, all "fees" included.

Same deal with my dealer for my '22 RK.. But that was last January. I can't see why they'd still be hitting people up with an extra surcharge when the '23 models will be out in a few weeks.

that is the real joke isn't it?

however it could also be a clear indication the dealers know nothing is changing in January except paint colors and they can milk the "low supply" myth even more.

all I want to see is, does Harley keep the surcharge? that will tell you more about how they view their customer base than anything else.

From Harley-davidson website, start at $27449, for the Road Glide Special, base model, vivid black with chrome engine.
Anything additional costs more, the black on black bike adds $930 to that base price. Redline red or gunship grey on black adds $1505. 2 tone anything adds almost $2k.
RDRS is $1025( includes traction control,
ABS, and some other features) security fob, cruise control, premium radio, is all standard. My dealer knocked $500 off that, then add tax, title and fees.

I paid Ł19,395 UK Pounds out the door for my Low Rider ST in black back in July. That was exactly the MSRP here in the UK at that point.Included taxes, dealer prep, shipping etc.. Here, the MSRP is the OTD price.

I could not get them to discount the bike, but they did give me the HD High Step crash bar installed FOC and some store/service credit

That's $20,807 at today's exchange rate. Less than US MSRP if I am correct. I was very surprised and pleased that HD prices in the UK were less than the US at that point.

I wonder if the MoCo requires its UK and maybe its EU dealers to sell their bikes at MSRP, with no stupid games played with fees.

My local dealer charges MSRP for their bikes, which, in my opinion, is still too much, but what chaps my *** is that “surcharge “ that adds to the price of the bike. I just paid off my RGU and definitely not in the market for a new one.

Looked at a 2022 brand new trike yesterday. With MSRP, surcharge, freight etc it listed at $41,617. They have a special until new years with $3,000 off so $38,617. Still a lot of cash for a bike. '23 are just around the corner.
Asked about the surcharge and he said it was Harley adding it to the price of the bike.

This is 'Merica.. the dealer can ASK whatever they want.

They have inventory that they cannot move. They have used inventory that they paid in some cases 10-20% more than it is currently worth at market price. Interest rates on loans are high. It is the last week of the year, they are trying to make annual numbers. They need to move motorcycles to make their numbers.

The buyer is in the driver's seat for the negotiation. It is to their advantage that the buyer does not know this. The dealer is weighing how much they want to lose on the deal vs how much they need to make a sale number. The way the economy is going, the loss only gets worse for them as time moves on. Time is not their friend.

I paid MSRP on a new 2022 Fat Boy back in March, when the market was hot and they had significant markup on everything on the floor. I was there the last week of the month, and the salesperson decided that they wanted the sale more than they wanted the mark up.
