Thank you so much I had no idea. Luckily I didnt get crazy with it and applied tiny dab (gel form) on the thread only so I feel I will be good and this thing wont get loose. Appreciate your help. Learning every day.
i didn't know that about lock tite, that it would eat plastic
recently, I've been paying attention to how folks are doing it, lots of smart guys out there who do not like lock tite
as well, if you use lock tite, and remove the bolt, you should clean out the old lock tite, my guess is many just goop more on the threads and add new to the old
here's my best advice if you're worried about nuts, bolts, and screws coming loose....as part of your wash process, go over the bike from tip to stern....you'll be surprised by how few tools you'll need to check most of the fasteners...hell...a t-27 gets ya half way there....one allen wrench to make sure the brake calipers are secure, another to check pin that holds the brake shoes in place....and I always check and double check stuff I've recently added, or removed and replaced

Destroyed a bit of the finish. I was pissed. I need to figure out some way to hide it.
I hadn't even ridden in it yet.

You might try taking it to a good shoe repair store. They might have a way to clean or cover it.
