Anyone familiar with the OLD BSA 441 Victor will be able to easily trace the lineage of the new HD 440.
The Victor was a beast. You could climb telephone poles with it. Looks like HD is teamed up with BSA in India (who has been building BSA for years now) to make a true HD worthy entry level bike.
Anyone wanting a true beast of a motorcycle should check out the new HD, and compare it to this vintage BSA 441 Victor. The original single cylinder beast!!!
Harley/Hero reports that 25,597 "bookings" have been taken for the X440 in India. That's a pretty huge response, Zeitz said it was better than expected, and it resulted in Hero's share price rising 4% the day they announced it. They also announced a small price increase, and delivery date in October.
Near as I can tell, a "booking" means that people have put down a 5,000 INR deposit on a bike, so, it's a reservation or pre-sale. That was all in a one-month period, that first booking window has now closed.
