To be more specific, without the fob present I turn the switch to the "ON" position and immediately hold both directional signal button (L&R) down. The display says "PIN" but when I release to press the left directional to commence the PIN sequence - the disco light just go on and the sequence is interrupted. IOW, the function of starting (or interrupting security disco lights) does not seem to work on this bike as it should.
I am open to suggestions about operator error but what works on my other bikes doesn't seem to work on this one. I'd be happy to just INOP/disconnect the security system entirely.
That procedure is for pre 2011. Your 2018 should automatically display ENTER PIN when you power up with the fob out of range.
It's a 2018 Low Rider.
It does not even prompt for a PIN.
The previous owner added all sorts or superfluous electrical stuff such as fancy colored lights and what not, voltage meter and what not and I do not know if that's affecting anything but the problem is that most modern Harleys, when you turn the power on will say "no fob" and that is the prompt to start the PIN process. This bike doesn't do that requiring the fob to clear the security activation.
something is messed up. if you don't have your fob, then the bike should absolutely prompt you for a pin before it does the disco dance. not being prompted, would make me to lean towards having the security already disabled. then you say that you have to have the fob for it to start. which is contrary to having it disabled. somehow you have some of both? but i don't see how that's possible.
i would start with getting rid of some of the extraneous electrical stuff that you don't want anyway and go from there.
But this isn't a thread about your 2015 or what you changed your PIN to. It's always about Rounders.
He said his 2018 does. I said my 2015 does, which implies most likely his 2018 also does. I then brought up zip codes are 5 digits, same as secruity codes, and we all most have one we can easily remember
So this is just you being one of my groupies.
Would you prefered, "you are wrong, and are you able to remember your own 5 digit zip code"?

Nothing implies anything. Because your 2015 does doesn't imply his will because he said his doesn't. Reread his post. i quoted it for your convenience.
Secondly, because ZIP codes are 5 digits does not make it good to use. Some ZIP codes have the digit '0' and you cannot use '0' in a PIN. Any other good advice?
Yes I read his post, that his 2018 does not, which is why I said my 2015 does. So if 2015 does, he probably needs to try harder. Am I wrong?
As for the zero, yes my home zip code has a zero, but I know more than one. Was it worth generating all these posts? You are just one of my groupies. Go blow the roadie, and be quite.
Again am I wrong, does his 2018 not have the ability to use a code, and is not 5 digit?
Disconnecting some aftermarket stuff AND making absolutely sure that the bike was absolutely motionless and still did the trick! Prompt for PIN, entered PIN, good-to-go!
Re-attached everything, followed the above procedure (absolutely motionless) and good-to-go again.
You guys are all wonderful for jumping in with the help.

You say 'I' more than Obama and speculate more than Warren Buffet.
