Default Garage remote??

Howdy,
How can I tell if I have the garage remote opener option? You know…you flip the hi/low beam switch and it can trigger you garage door opener.

thanks,
Randy

Randy,
I’m pretty sure for that to work you have to buy the HD receiver. Mo door opener with the hidden soft touch. It worked awesome. I sold the house and have a different setup at the new house.

Free for you if you want. Doesn’t require the receiver and works with chamberlain and other major manufacturers.

There's also a guy that makes these with a depression button that you install into your aux/cig port. Not crazy expensive, 150 if I remember....but...there are videos of how to make your own for less than 30 bucks.

I made one a couple years ago, but its kinda buggy due to my poor soldering skills, so I never installed it fully.

Garage door openers are not an "option" on bikes. You would have to either buy or make/adapt a set up. These require the "opener" on the bike, and a "receiver" on the opener. I sprung for the Harley unit about 15 years ago and have moved from bike to bike. Still works and I'm happy. Like others have said, there are some youtube that can show you how to make an opener. Good Luck on your project.

Forgive me and I am not trying to be a smartass....We're all here to help each other and make supportive suggestions. I realize many like to press a button like in your car. That's nice & neat and, let's face it, easy. But usually expensive on a motorcycle - in one way or another.

My solution is a keychain remote. Since they are NLA from my garage opener manufacturer (Craftsman) I picked this up on eBay for $10. You must know your frequency. I removed the wimpy spring clip and use it on a heavy duty caribiner clip. It hangs on my belt loop. Technically a risk but I have never had an issue in 10 years. Once I am stopping at one place or another on a day trip, it goes into by bag. I get it out and wear it again when I am heading home.

Coming up to the house, I can downshift and hit the button at the same time before I hit the driveway.

Food for thought.

My remote is in a small windshield pocket. I can just push on the pocket without taking it out.

I had a 2004 CVO Electra Glide that I purchased new. The GDO transmitter was a standard feature installed at the factory. When I picked up the bike from the dealership, the receiver was in one of the saddlebags.

Forget all those tricky gizmos, I just use a regular door opener that's velcro'd to the inside of the left saddlebag lid. As I approach the driveway I just flip the bag open, push the button, and flip it closed.

@Pappy35 the one I showed isn’t a tricky gizmo, just a new opener that had a push pad that concealed on the frame out of sight. Offer still stands if someone needs it. I pulled it off when I moved and it’s on a shelf.

Yep, that's how my door opener works. The one I freed up with the handy button in my car.
