Hwy 35 is a good ride! Just watch out for detours in Wisconsin due to recent heavy rain. Stop into Ferryville WI and enjoy a beer or something at The Wooden Nickle. Just watch out for Johnnie Law in that town! 25 means 25 not 26! Or you will get a ticket[>:]
I live right off the Great River Road near St Louis Missouri. Its a great place to ride. Grafton in Illinois is a beautiful place as well. Same thing with the cops though.
CSI, did you ever make that trip? If so which way did you end up taking. Either way, I hope it was a good time for you.
No, I never did. As it worked out, I would have ended up having to leave kid with two different babysitters, and just didn't feel real comfortable doing that.
Will make that trip one day, when momma is home !!
Well that is too bad that you couldn't make the trip. This summer I rode to Ohio and took 94 out of Saint Cloud and turned off on Hwy 35 in Wisc. Took 35 all the way to US Hwy. 20 in Illinois. Ended up on I39 at Rockford and from there went south in an attempt to go around Chicago. We did 610 miles the first day. Of course that was due to the fact that we didn't make any motel reservations and couldn't find a room until we were in Indiana.
The ride on Wisc. 35 and also US 20 in Ill. was great. I would do that ride again anytime. Next time I think I will try Hwy. 35 into Ill. then cut over to the Iowa side of the river and go south from there. That is supposed to be a great ride too. Time will tell.
