I might be mistaken, but I think you were looking for the Goldwing forum . . .

Up here the red light or speeding camera fine is just that, a fine, no points and it doesn't affect your record because they cant prove who was driving at the time but the fine still sticks. Money grab in other words.

I'm curious, will NYC own this system, or is it like the red light camera scam that's owned by a private company and the city gets a cut of the fines?

Well NYC and NYS have been talking about loud motorcycles since I started riding in the 80's. I have heard all the stories about LEO being equipped with decibel meters, safety stops etc. I have never been hassled in over 30 years for loud pipes except once in Key West, another story.

I would be interested in seeing the technology in these meters that can pin point where the sound is coming from, being your motorcycle and not the truck next to you. The red light cameras and speeding cameras they send you a link with the video and you can see your vehicle. Hard to argue when you see your car make the right with out first coming to a complete stop and waiting 3 seconds. Lots of people have tried to fight the tickets, I really have not heard about anyone being successful. Most just pay it because as stated before, no points against your license because they do not know who was driving and at $85, pay the fine and just keep moving.

I also do not understand the extreme cost of the fine. At the end of the day it is just an equipment ticket, the aforementioned loud pipes in Florida coast me $10. How did we get to over $2k for an equipment violation. All I can say is stay away from the monitored areas until it gets sorted or removed. Totally a money grab focused on people like us. Most of the people that are the real 2 AM issue do not have plates on their bikes and if they do they are bogus and therefore are not paying any fines.

the first ticket not worth paying a lawyer, but that second one! I been out of NY for 6 month now anyway

Probably a civil infraction where the nuances of the criminal courts is no longer a necessity.

I do not think this is true. I know in Philly we have redlight and speed cameras. I have gotten a few speed camera tickets ( I stay off that road now) they do not have to prove you were operating the Vehicle, the ticket goes to the vehicle owner, doesn't matter who was driving
