Maybe it is the weather your ride or area. Here, in the times of year I ride, it is cold mornings and evening and warm afternoons, and much in between. It is rare that we have days where you would leave your jacket at home. I use my vents quite a bit, in the in between temps. I would say maybe daily half or more of riding season.

Maybe I misunderstood, and you only ride in cold weather. I have a jacket with the liner, that I do not open vents. I do agree taking liners in and out sucks. For years I just left it out. But I do think a good nylong insulated liner will keep you warm.
Actually we ride very few times in cold weather. I am more of a 70 degrees and up rider with no apologies. If I am riding when it's cold it is usually because I have a service drop-off in the afternoon, after work when it's warm. Basically every time I am getting on the bike, I have already looked ahead at the weather. What is it when I leave the house? What will it be a few hours from now? What will it be on the ride home? That all determines my jacket of choice and how I layer.

Over the top? Perhaps. But I got caught my first year riding, at bike week 4-5 hours from home. It was a very warm weekend, but the trip home was very cold. My last clean shirt was very thin and the leather jacket I had was un-lined and double breasted. So very open at the neck and when that leather was cold, I was done! I swore never again would I be un-prepared.

Over the years I have accumulated long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts that fit just right under jackets, vests, gators, glove liners, leather gloves of all styles etc. etc. I mix and match for the conditions. I am a Capricorn, what can say LOL

I personally like riding in cooler weather I don't like the heat. I have bought bikes with fairngs to make it more enjoyable, or just easier.

This part of the country if limited it to above 70, there would not be a lot of riding time. Its hard to find mornings and evenings that warm. But ride what you like.

But my point was opening vents while wearing a nylon liner which is blocking the wind is probably a waste of time.

I like wearing a jacket on the bike, so I get lots of use out of my vents, adjusting over the day.

My leather jackets are from Aero Leathers , made in Scotland but very expensive

I actually tracked down a new unused Made in USA leather Harley Davidson jacket yesterday but the guy wants too much money for it.

Its similar to an A2 with a clip on shearing collar and lining.

Hoping he comes down a bit in price cause it’s a stunning leather jacket

I know what you mean. I am on the other side of that trying to sell my wife's leather jacket. As HD leather goes, it was quite expensive and very cool looking but just didn't fit her well. It had the purple leather trim. "Her color" is blue so a few years later she got the leather jacket she was really hoping for. Having worn it only once or twice, she is hoping to get a good price and not give it away. Long story short, after 6 years we still have it.

I've got a Joe Rocket Smooth. I like it a lot. It's got a good fit and shape to it, decent ventilation, and wasn't too expensive. The zip-out lining makes it versatile not just when it's warm out, but when I'm already dressed in layers and the liner would be overkill. I like the snap loops that connect it to my belt (dress for the slide, right?). The only thing I wish it was better at is venting the arms. On hot days, I would love to get more breeze in the sleeves.
