Default Mesh jacket - HD Jacket Zephyr (removable armour?)

Hi All,

Maybe one of the last posts of 2022 and wasn't sure where to ask, so I just ask here

I will be looking for a mesh jacket for summer, thought about Harley-Davidson Jacket Zephyr Mesh grey Art no.: 98131-22EM/000L - does anyone know if it has removable protectors shoulders and elbows? I tried it on once and remember the armour wasn't very good, would like to upgrade it with something better if possible (if they're removable).

If not...

...would anyone recommend similar jacket (good mesh jacket that fits to HD styling)?

I normally ride in a mesh when needed - I put a fleece on and sometimes some merino wool underneath and a rain jacket on top - tested and it's my best set for any conditions, so no - I won't go with anything that's heavy, those so-called '3 season' things with opening vents etc. From my experience mesh jackets are the best for summer as they're also usually lightweight materials (where they're not mesh).

So...your shots fellas?

I use this one: https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...t/p/98111-16VM
Trenton mesh jacket for $185.

I use a lined windbreaker underneath on cold mornings, rain jacket or warmer over the top if needed.

it has armor pockets but those are sold separately.

I have the Brawler...
https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...t/p/98004-21VM

It's a combination of leather and mesh and has removable armor. It's a sharp looking jacket and I have no doubt it would offer protection from road rash if I were to go down.
I just don't wear it much as I prefer a vest in the summer and a traditional leather jacket when it gets cold.

I have the same jacket and like it.
As @Schoolboy said, it didn't come with armor but has the pockets for it.
If you have something else with armor, you can often switch the armor between brands of jackets. I know my First Gear jacket armor with work in my Harley jacket.

As mentioned, the jacket does not come with armor. You can get the H-D 3DO armor for it which is a top tier armor. It's soft by itself but on impact it hardens instantly to protect. I had looked at that jacket and seems like it's okay. As someone mentioned, there are better out there. The more expensive the better features and material.

I have the Revit Tornado for my mesh jacket and also has a removable thermal liner. I have the above armor for shoulders, elbow and back.

I've used a Joe Rocket Phoenix for years. Removable armor in the elbow, shoulder and back. Affordable too.

Tour Master Cortech may be a viable option. I've owned one for a bit over 10 years now. The zipper on the mesh has loosened up a bit, but other than that it has held up well. The shoulder armor in my wife's jacket disintegrated, but she didn't ride much over the last several years, so the jacket was hanging in a closet for long stretches.

I bought a jacket from Pappa's in 2014 when I was in Oklahoma City. Great quality at a good price. https://papasleather.com/
