BINGO!!!!!
When I purchased my '18 Tri-Glide new (July, '18) I didn't initially purchase the H-D extended warranty.
I retuned to the dealership a few weeks later to purchase it but the price had greatly increased (new business manager had been hired) so I stubbornly refused to "pay the ransom"!

The "PLAN" at that time was to "ride the daylights" out of that trike!
So, I started researching extended warranty options and ended up with Discount ESP (which will expire in he summer of 2025) which I plan to renew.

Like other "well made PLANS" mine didn't work out as I had hoped.
I barely got the 1,000 miles on the trike during the summer (as I was busily "accessorizing" it) we had "stuff" going on and then I had an unexpected "quad by-pass surgery in October!
I did manage to get a "good trip" in to Newfoundland in 2019 and then the COVID really "hit the fan" in 2020 and that is party why I currently only have a tad over 18,000 miles on my trike.

IF, you ride a lot of miles annually (and consistently) and especially if you tend to tour greater distances away from home an extended warranty is well justified and like a good fiscal decision.

If you're a "weekend warrior" and/or don't put a lot of miles on your bike/trike or don't so a lot of distance or tour riding, taking the money that you would have paid for an extended warranty and "stashing it away" for when your bike does need repair may be a good idea for you.

A bike/trike sees to need more (frequent) repairs than a four-wheeled car or truck and those repairs can be just as much, if not more than those for a four-wheeled vehicle.

IF, you have the means/resources or a major credit card to get your bike repaired when needed, an extended warranty may not be as beneficial to you as it may be to others, so it comes down to an individual's choice to "roll-the-dice".

Speaking ONLY for myself, I've had several extended warranties and I've only had TWO repairs made (on one bike) and the cost of those repairs was much less than the cost of he extended warranty, so I'm basically "in-the-hole" on an investment vs return basis. BUT...I am well aware of the fact that just ONE simple "malfunction" on my trike could instantly go the other way!

I keep ALL of my vehicles well-maintained and serviced and I DON'T ride them hard or abuse them but "S**T Happens" so you need some kind of a "PLAN"!

Default Congrats on the new bike!

Hate to spend the extra money but at the same time, hate to purchase a new bike with only 12 months warranty.
Congrats on the first new bike! If you decide to purchase an extended service plan, we have an option that allows you to decide when the coverage starts. We can set the 2-7 years of coverage to go 'LIVE" right away or set it to the end of the factory warranty period. This allows you to maximize the coverage. Another benefit is the cancellation proration doesn't start until it is LIVE.

Thinking about an extended warranty and have Jim Palmers quote in hand. Assuming I never tune/flag the vin on the bike, What did y'all haggle down to and pay, or were quoted for, the 5 and 7 year factory warranties?

I've yet to make a claim on my "18 Tri-Glide but my policy expiration isn't too far away so I just a query about renewing or changing the coverage for another 5-7 years, which will likely be the last time I'll have to do this!

I've launched a YouTube channel called Motorcycle Agent, where I'll be doing in depth reviews/explanations for the protection plans we offer. I currently have ASC Warranty's Extended Service Plan WITH the Modified Motorcycle Endorsement loaded.

The DK Customs video on this is spot on.. (above, and here:
)
They may make sense for some folks.
I don't buy extended warranties. Reading the plan, and running the numbers, it just doesn't make sense. This is the same with the service plan and the tire coverage. The few times I have had a problem, I just pay out of pocket. I still end up ahead.

My 2022 RGS came with a '4 year warranty'. They told me when I bought it to always bring it to them for oil changes/5 mile service, etc. so as not to void said warranty.
I called to get the 1000 service done shortly after I go the bike and they told me to drop it off first thing Tuesday morning and they would get to it when they could(???).
I never brought my bike to them, for any service work or anything.
I have not read the fine print on that but I assume they would/could do anything they could to get out of actually honoring this 'warranty' whether I brought it there for service or not, if I ever did have an issue.
I would keep whatever money you would spend on an ESP, or HD extended warranty in a separate account if you have to, in case you need to cover any repairs but maybe that's just me.

When I purchased my bke new in 2017 I went with the HD extended warranty for around $2,500.00 .
Gave me another 3 or 4 years on the warranty. It gave me peace of mind which meant a lot to me but, I ended up never needing the coverage.
But, it was worth it to me to have it even if I didnt need it.
In hindsight would I do it again?
Yes, but I probably would have called Jim Palmer to get a better deal. I was just too damn lazy, it was easier at the time of doing the deal at the store to just get the one the dealer sold.

Anyone have inputs on the 22 models and any issues that required heavy repairs?

None here at all.

I have a '24 VVT and am debating a warranty so this thread is definitely interesting. All that new tech has a good chance of taking a poop.
