People, altogether, bikes or cars, are far to quick to anger. Somehow the cars think that by your getting by them somehow slows them even more. Or it's not fair that a bike doesn't have to wait. Whatever, the first emotion is anger. Rational behavior seems to be in short supply these days.
I no longer ride in heavy traffic if I can avoid it; I quit commuting on a bike decades ago. I no longer have faith in the average motorist to do the right thing.
It probably takes a couple of years for a populace to get accustomed to legal lane splitting once its approved.
Here in NC, the level of aggression is always simmering anyway. (And the stupid take longer to learn **** as well.)
i cant imagine trusting someone to look behind them more than you trust them to look straight ahead. it just makes no sense to me. if someone wants to split, have at it, but i fully expect them to end up a smear on the road.
I'm all for lane splitting when traffic is heavy and crawling or at a stand still, but THIS, no way. We are already at risk and this guys riding just makes the risk level skyrocket! No thank you.

I live in California and rarely if ever land split. I do however filter forward when traffic is at a complete stop. If cars are moving, and just move with them and find no need to split lanes.
Lane Splitting = Riding between cars when traffic is moving
Filtering = riding to the front when traffic is stopped. Like a stop light.
