Default Cigarette lighter plug

Does anyone have a trick or fix to keep the plug in the cigarette lighter/power port. I had a '18 FLHX and now a '23 FLHTCUTG both with the same issue of the plug falling out every time I hit a bump or pebble in the road. I would still like to use the port from time to time, but would like to keep this thing in place when not in use. Suggestions please versus smart *** comments. Thanks in advance.

replace it with something that works, try a DIN port instead

Not trying to be a smart ***, but have you tried a different plug?

Depending on the end you're plugging into it, you could put an actual cigarette lighter in there. The older plugs would lock into the fingers that held the cigarette lighter in till it popped. Needs to look like this one. The new power ports don't have the fingers in there. They rely strictly on friction.

Or the wrap with tape suggestion. It's free!

Thanks for posting this - from time to time, I have the same problem. Usually forget about it from time to time.

My plug was always coming out also and I found it annoying. I took a rubber stopper and put it inside the plug which slightly spread the plug making it tighter in the power port. It has never fallen out since. I'm sure you could easily do the same thing with a cork from a good Kentucky whiskey.

Thanks for the tip. My 2018 plug would occasionally pop out. I found a shallow (1/4" thick) tapered rubber plug in my junk collection that would spread, and hold the weak factory plastic retainer.

Best idea so far; and the one I chose. Nice and snug, able to use the port when needed, and problem solved. Thanks a bunch.
