If the posts on the starter are used to turn over (jump start) the engine, and the bike has EFI, will the ECM (ECU) electronics be activated, allowing the bike to start? (I am supposing that the battery is totally without power.). What about the electric fuel pump?

Wouldn't it be better to connect to the battery posts?

I have the Harley jump pack, primarily because the Harley version has the smaller clips. I kept going back and forth trying to decide whether to get the NOCO or the Harley jump pack and decided to cough up the extra $30 or so for the one from HD.

I keep one in sled/at, and try to keep one in bike at all times doesn't matter if on trip or half hour away. Dead bike is dead bike.

I only have one for trucks at moment. I've got other brands

Connecting to the large wire on the starter is the same as connecting to the battery post. The jump pack will feed the battery and the starter. Think of the starter wire as one of the adapter cables as mentioned above. Just an easier way to get to the battery.

What difference does it make, the starter post connects directly to the positive battery post. I have jumped my 14 SGS this way, some dummy left the headlight on, im not saying who just some dummy.

Reach your hand in and feel the short wire goes to battery, look to see what post.

Putting a meter on would also show polarity. I never thought of until last year when someone showed me.

With old bikes battery was accessible.

the hd one is a rebranded noco. i have the hd one simply because i had enough chrome cash that cover 2/3rds of the cost for me. never noticed that the clips were different sized, that's good to know. otherwise though, the packs themselves are the same.

I have the Audew jump pack and carry with me all the time. I learned the hard way by listening to the radio a bit long.
Also discovered you can not pop start a trike.

I was about to order a NOCO on Amazon but before I ordered it, I read somewhere on the forum that the clips were smaller, so I just bought the HD jump pack.

This thread prompted me to buy the orange UTRAI unit.
Good price, looks to be a good piece of kit.
This woulda helped when my 2 1/2 y/o Toyota branded dealer battery recently left me stranded.
I'm not a gadget person, but I have been needing this.
