Glad you got it fixed blue rose! Low airpressure will cause the tire cupping, and also can cause a rim to become outta round [ untrue] etc.....Kinda a chain reaction of one problem leading to another one....I check my tire pressures ALOT.....Pretty much weekly....I have an aircompressor in the garage, and it takes me about a minute or two to check and service the tires......Only got 2 tires, may as well make darn sure they are in in excellent shape before heading out down the super slab at 70 mph ! Especially critical to check tire pressures during a big temperature change also, like the first frost, or cold spell etc...Very important !
Well I jacked it up,turned the wheel, hubby and I both saw a minor what appeared to be a warp...and I said "Ahhh Haaa! I'm not crazy!"
Took it to the dealer...had the tire replaced ,balanced, and the spokes checked. And they found........Nothing[:@] And I found....the wobble is still there[:@]
Guess I wasted some $$$ and have joined Speedkingnick in thinking "I don't know if the softails get a resonant point at 35 mph or if it is engine or tires".
Simple easy way to determine,,,, pull in the clutch at a speed above the 35 MPH,,, let the engine go to idle,,, then see if you still feel the wobble when you get back to the 35 MPH. Could be slightlyloose steering head bearings would be my guess.

Interesting point about the temperature change....I keep my bike in a climate controlled garage, so the temp is always the same when I check my tire pressures, so the outside temp is not a factor....any suggestions on compensating for this,,,,,thanks
My last Dunlop front tire cupped. I was getting a lot of wobble so had the tire changed. All the wobble dissapeared instantly. I had 2 different mechanics tell me it had to do with me riding 2 up a lot. More weight on the rear of the bike does odd things to the front end. I always keep 38 lbs in the front, 40 lbs in the back tire. My $.02...

Outside temp is what you want to check the pressure at,,, you're not riding in the garage,,, of course this would be for extreme change,,, say your garage is 70 deg,,, but outside is 40 degress or 100 degrees.
Pesonally I don't know what the difference in PSI would/could be, never done any kind of test myself,,,, main thing is to check the pressure quite often no matter what the temperature.

They checked the steering head when I took it in the first time. It's more noticable on certian roads then others and basically non-existant when there is a load (accelerating).
For those of you that keep talking about cupped tires...there was no evidence of a cupped tire or even uneven wear...I keep my tires to the book 36 in the fron and 38 in the rear because I have a tour pak that I carry work stuff in (about 25 lbs - 40 lbs with bags and gear). I rarelyride anyone 2 up...(maybe 4 or 5 timesfor 100 miles or less in 7500 miles of riding)
