I never floss my teeth when changing oil or filter for that matter ... I would imagine that it would be messy ... However, it astonishes me that the labor rates have soared recently ... I can remember getting $48.00 an hour and having customers complain ... My how times have changed

Wait till labor rates hit $200 an hour but hey people voted for this.
Overhead was a lot less when dealerships didn't have to conform to the yuppie boutique atmosphere. Blame high labor costs on overhead, it's what pays the bills.

Agree. I just bought my first Harley Davidson shirt ever. Paid $10, like new, it's currently in the dryer going round and round.
They are telling people up front what it costs, they may be expensive, but they are not ripping people off.
I asked them how much for a 3 hole oil change. They told me between $500-600... I said for an oil change...? They said, well it's a "Full Service" oil change. I then had to ask what that meant. They proceeded to tell me. I then said...No, I'm wanting to know how much for just the oil change. Drop the oils and replace with a new filter... Then they said $380.00
So It's fine to have your opinion... but in my opinion when you don't explain and expect the customer to then ask the questions and figure it out for themselves.. yes, they are being deceitful and trying to rip me off. What if I had not asked and took my bike in. Are they going to just change the 3 oils and charge me between $500-600?? That is being deceitful to me and too me that's screwing people, ripping them off. If I call my dealer and ask them to do a 3 hole oil change and filter... that's what I get... I don't get a made up "Full Service" 3 hole oil change. To each their own. I wouldn't go there either way.
I buy VTwin Amsoil by the case, and I use a DkCustom Outlaw oil filter.
So I never have to buy a new oil filter. I just clean it with dish soap and a tooth brush. fill it with oil and it goes back on.
