I see the threads where guys want the loudest pipes possible or brag about pissing neighbors off.
I agree it is how you ride it, drop the roms and coast through town and you will be fine. But you got the guys screaming away from the bar asking for a DUI.
Again not saying my bikes are epa compliant.
Actually one is, and I am starting to like it. Down shifting on recent trip through mountains was a lot more pleasant than it would have been on my other bikes.

EPA laws are not new. It has always been illegal to tamper with polution controls. It is not jsu getting enforced at these lower levels. Apparently you have not been paying attention.

The exhaust example. We love the sound of our bikes,but some don't understand not everyone does. You put drag pipes on your bike it pisses me off so they just ban them all.
My bikes are jetted and tuned outside of EPA compliance. But I am not surprised they are coming for products designed to make our bikes illegal.
So far it's like selling a pipe saying for tobacco only. Sellers are exempt, but buyers get arrested when used. At some point they may go after seller too

LIke Myrtle Beach RV 'Resorts', and some hotels, do not allow motorcycles on the property. Goes back to loud pipes and drunk riders revving their bikes at all hours.

The reality is that the bike tuners will also feel the pressure at some point in time. I plan to do one more big upgrade before its all gone, hopefully that should last me, and I won't have to request any more base maps from vendors that don't comply with EPA rules.

Ill load up the motor and ride around slipping the clutch destroying your flower garden leaving burnt stubby stems, setting off car alarms, Frightening children and making the woman want to leave their half men for true Vikings.
Meanwhile back in reality, you do realize not everyone with drag pipes runs around all South Park. You do realize you can pull through a Neighborhood in the middle of the night nice and quiet like even with drag pipes. Do you love your guns, its no different. Gun is a tool. It can be up to no good if someone uses it that way.

You are ignoring the riders who do not ride quiet. The riders who do burnouts in motel parking lots. The riders cranking the music so loud to be heard for blocks. ALl these things galvanize non-riders against riders. Yes, they punish the entire group.
Why do you think some BMW and GoldWing campsites at rallies do not allow Harley's?

For whatever reason eBay has jumped on this. Next year something else what drives it at the moment, is always a good question.
Tangent, but during the chopper craze, I was told what drove EPA going after small brands was Harley. Cuts into their product.

I’m not punishing anyone unless it’s a race. And sorry… but what Harley guy would want to hang out with a bunch of Goldwing guys… can you imagine that? A camp fire when all motorcycles must be shut off by 6pm so they can sit around at the camp fire listening to Barry Manlow and discuss what brands of bungee cords they prefer to really secure their Bennie babies to the tour pack and late into the night.. like 7 pm they discuss and profess their deep faith and allegiance to Amsoil and plot how they convert everyone to their Amsoil cult as they drink Shirley temples. Gold wing to me are closet sling shot future owners… sorry I shouldn’t stereo type. My opinions are based on the only exposures I’ve had.. and it frightened me.

I have ridden thousands of miles traveling with GoldWing riders. I like to fix their bikes that never brake down. And I still carry a set of metric wrenches in my tool bag.
You paint all GoldWing riders with a broad brush. Just like many lump all Harley riders into one group. It is convenient to do so, even if it is grossly incorrect.
