They don’t have to be but they should be in hopes of saving others from similar grief. If you have what you believe is a bad customer experience share the experience. Others can judge whether to heed the warning or not.

I just think it is unrealistic to expect a business to modify a bike to your specifications, that you haven't fully paid for.
I didn’t twist their arm to agree to the deal. They went back and forth between the salesman, assistant manager and manager and in the end they all agreed on the deal and shook hands in it.

Unrealistic or not after discussion and consideration they shook hands on the deal. As mentioned it was, with parts and labor, risking $2K with a customer that has spent about $40K at the dealership including bikes, parts, labor and maintenance agreements. This $2K risk was supposed to be their an attempt to show some good will to make up for past issues on the prior purchase.

Exactly. It's an important part of what online forums are supposed to be about. Don't know why that's so hard to understand for some people.

I don't know if they would have been taking on much risk. If this bike was being financed they get their money almost as soon as you sign the papers.

sounds like the dealership is trying hard to make ends meet.

Honda Rebel 1100 is a cool bike... but the Sportster S is a beast. Hope you do enjoy the Rebel, like I said, cool bike.

No offense to the OP but I hope he doesn’t keep posting and visiting this forum if he doesn’t have a Harley. We have enough weirdo’s already who sold their Harleys and own other bikes and continue to post on lots of threads encouraging everyone to make the dumb decision they made to buy what they bought. Be a man. If you believe in what you did don’t come around asking for vindication.. this is a HARLEY DAVIDSON forum. So it’s members should be people who like and own a Harley.

I’m not interested in ANY of your opinions if you think your Jap made plastic monstrosity is better than Harley.

I dig Triumphs.. but if I bought one I wouldn’t be popining in and out of threads about Harleys telling everyone how superior I think my Triumph is.. here’s a clue, go find a forum with what you bought in its name.

Legal documents: This is how dealers sell bikes. Things like
a bill of sale, sales contract, a credit application and credit agreement, a mileage statement, a title application, a parts sales receipt, and service agreement are the normal means of doing business at any dealership. The new bike doesn't belong to you, if you don't complete the sale and don't relinquish your trade in vehicle.

When I buy a bike, car, house - and any major item - I have no problem making a deposit. I don't sign the final contract until I take delivery. Otherwise, the seller is using your money interest free.

Having said that, in my opinion, regardless of what happens next - even if they came back and said -OK, you may never feel good about this deal. Sometimes, it may just be best to walk away. Some folks just can't do that.

A hand shake should mean something.. people should do what they say they will.. that said in this day n age it’s incredibly naďve to think everyone is walking around honest. OP should have asked for an email at least so everyone is on the same page.
