I carry it with me on road trips. But don't let it leak out, my tour pack still like that **** after a year, and I have tried everything to get it out.
I've run into the one pump with 87 octane stations a few times out west on either a 103 or a 107, have never noticed any pinging, maybe my ears are that bad that I just don't hear it.

About 15-20 years ago I was up in the mountains at our family camp for the weekend. While I was there, I did some local riding and ended up without enough fuel to make it home. So, I stopped at the closest gas station to fill up, but they only had 87 octane.
Since I had no other choice, I dumped about 1.5 or 2 gallons in it which was enough to get me back to civilization and numerous gas stations.
Guess what. Nothing happened.
I did notice if I let the RPMs drop down low the bike would rattle, so I just kept it in a decent RPM range and rode the 35 or 40 miles to the next gas station where I topped it off with high octane gas.
It's happened once or twice again since then and I do the same thing, never had any problems that I can detect.
