I have buddies tell me I need a diesel, but I disagree.
Diesels are too expensive to purchase and maintain, especially the newer ones with DEF .
Agree with the purchase price, disagree with the maintenance comment. When I bought my Silverado K2500 High Country in spring of 2019, I got a great deal around $60k out the door. Same truck would cost me close to $100k out the door today. Ive done several 6k mile trips out west with this truck towing my Harleys with some towing elevations of 10k+ feet elevations and incline grades of 9%. There is absolutely no comparison to a gasoline motor. Routine maintenance is a bit more, have had zero mechanical issues in 6 years outside of replacing a hood latch.
you must be thinking about them "pretty" trucks with the sheep hED logo?

This is no joke. My 2016 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman squats with an empty trailer. No lift upgrades either. I plan on getting some kind of helper springs/bags, but thats a whole different Forum . 😂
14x7 enclosed trailer weighs about 2200 pounds ... 3 dressers around 2650 ... Lets say 5000 pounds ... The 2021 F-150 3.5L EcoBoostŽ V6 engine boasts a best-in-class towing capability of 14,000 pounds. With these kinds of numbers, you can easily tow a horse trailer or souped-up boat ... Too simple ??
Because a 14,000 pound boat tows the same as a 14,000 pound enclosed trailer? NOPE!
Towing sections used to also stipulate frontal area allowed for towing. The larger the frontal area, the more the trailer weight was reduced. Most folks never read that part of their manuals.
Many folks do not look at the sticker on their driver's door to know what towing capacities are for that truck. Not all 1/2 tons have the same capacities. Same for 3/4 and 1 tons as well.

What is the rating on your door sticker for that truck? Upper tier/trim trucks have less capacity than others.
