I agree, don't sweat it! Life's too short! Part of that got me to buy my 05 EG Standard was seeing one that a friend had bought (in black). I lusted after one for a few months, and bought it! About a month later another friend of mine sold his FatBoy and bought an 05 EG Standard in black also. They were pretty similar for awhile, the main differences were he had the black wheels (I had the chrome laced ones), he took off the engine guard and aux light/turn signals and a few other minor items. To a non-Harley or motorcycle rider they probably looked almost identical, but each one was personalized.....

it doesn't matter what bike your friend has, get the bike that you will be happy with. this aint a fashion show, you're not gonna clash, and we don't care if you show up wearing the same outfit that someone else is wearing. in a way it's flattering that your friend liked the bike that you picked out so much that he bought one himself. don't sweat the small stuff, just ride.

Buy what you want and like. I ride a black heritage, how many of those do you think I see at the rallies? A Gazillion at least
Make that a Gazillion and one. But I can pick mine out of a lineup any day. That's why it's mine.

You both will add thing to your bike to make it your own, so chances are, after a bit, they wont be the same. I would get what you want. When I was looking for a bike, I had a buddy that had a white '03 sporty. He told me how much he loved his bike and would never part with it. He even talked me into getting a rk with a carb (which I don't regret). A week after I got my bike, we went to the dealer while out on a ride. I am happy with my bike, but still look around (as most of us do). I saw a springer that was awesome. I told my buddy how that would make a great second bike. Before I knew it he was in finance trading in his sporty. He got hosed on the deal, but even after i tried to explain that trading in his bike was not the way to go, he still got it. Now he has a bike (for a year now) and still has 6 more years of payments. BTW, his payments are close to $500 a month. Idiot. He could have sold his bike, bought a used one, and been better off. but, this just goes to tell you, if you want something bad enough, some don't mind how they get it.

Anacharis, I currently ride a totally tricked out deuce. I always said I would never own a bagger or anything with a windshield, but I was wrong. I now see the need for a bike with bags for storage room and comfort because of how long we ride.

When my wife and I shopped for our 07' ultra we could not decide what color as we were more interested the equipment. so we did the obvious and got a black one. figured that after scratches and wear. we would do some rad paint. probably a million black ones on the road. but at a glance I can identify mine

This is a joke, right? You are old enough to own a "tricked out deuce" yet you're asking for opinions because your friend bought the bike you wanted first - this has to be a set-up
