Hobo Trip
Sleeping on the ground, even with a pad, holds no sense of adventure anymore, lol! SWMBO feels the same - BTDT, and nothing left to prove to ourselves or anyone else who gives a dam. Our camping now involves a credit card . Were simply too old and creaky/cranky to do the tent thing.
That said, I suppose, given the proper incentive, I would solo it somewhere. It would have to be a relatively short trip. I dunno. I still think I might be younger than I am. 😆😎
We got rid of outs back in 2004 when I purchased my first Ultra. Wife actually pulled the TimeOut with her trike. If you are going to use it, look around - you might find a nice add-a-room for almost nothing. I got mine for about $100 years ago.
My Timeout is a 2008 model. We enjoy the TimeOut locally. But when I run with the group, and we are only camping for one night, then two nights, then a 700 mile day home.
I do not currently plan on any extended stays in the TimeOut. So the add-a-room is not needed for us.
I made it from Phoenix to about 30 miles east of Socorro, New Mexico. Going through the mountains hit some colder weather and some rain.
I made some Mac and cheese with a bagel.
Light rain now. I have an air mattress and an old Army mummy sleeping bag. About time for lights out.

Holy cow, yes you did hit some colder weather and rain yesterday. I'm guessing that you took US-60 up from Phoenix.
Two friends of mine are riding today from here to Phoenix just to get an In And Out Burger and tried to get me to go with them. I told them I've frozen my *** off in May too many times between here and Phoenix to do it again just for a fast food burger.
I hope you have better weather today.

Today was better, 60''s and only caught by one scattered shower. I'm spending tonight at a roadside table by Great Bend, Kansas
Home for tonight.
Neat old abandoned bridge somewhere in Oklahoma.
Half way between New York and San Francisco.
I have no idea what this is. Natural spring?? Somewhere in Texas.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Only took what was absolutely needed and could fit on the bike. What goes with me always depended on what bike I was riding at the time. When I had my Electra Glide and either of the Road Kings, I could carry a decent amount of stuff. 2 nice size saddlebags and a King Tour Pack would easily hold 3 or 4 days worth of stuff.
A Sportster was a challenge due to the lack of luggage. Toss a set of throwover saddlebags on the bike then get creative with ropes and straps.
I havent done a trip like that in several years. My Missus doesnt ride anymore, I dont have many friends and the ones I do have dont ride much, and I certainly aint hyped to sleep on the ground these days.
But this thread has got me itching now . My current bike is a 95 Dyna Convertible. Its got 2 really big saddlebags and I have a good sized Nelson Rigg bag to strap on the seat or the sissy bar. I could carry everything I need for a 3 day weekend. It might just turn into an adventure this year.

As an aside, I had a friend (now RIP) whose wife would opine as follows,
If the hotel has less than 4.5 stars or the bell stand staff do not wear bowties - IT'S CAMPING!
