Has anyone that's removed their motorcycle cats taken them to a scrap yard recently? I have a couple lying around and was wondering if it's worth taking them in.
Did you try calling your local scrap yard and asking them if they even take them, and how much they will give you? Probably the most accurate info.......
Im not sure thats its still the case, but here in NC you cannot simply take catalytic converts to a scrap yard. Due to theft you must be registered/licensed or something.
According to RRCats.com the national average price as of June 10th was $92. There seems to be a lot of variables though, with prices ranging between $24 all the way up to $1140, depending on brand and size.

I thought he was joking. That is silly to worry about. Not like you are googling terrorists act or murder, and worrying your wife really does have accident.
One of our customers is a scrap processor. I hear about the catalytic converter theft stuff all the time. They would have people on a bicycle come in, pull a catalytic converter out of their backpack, get their check and pedal on down to the bank.

I had two stolen in one year 15-20(?) years ago
the first one used a sawsall
the second used some kind pipe cutter and it was clean and square like cutting a copper water pipe w/pipe cutter

Yea I would google "catalytic converter prices" but I dont want to be put on some kind of "list"
I'd be more worried about getting struck by lightning on a sunny day
For a real price, you need to call a few scrap yards.
(They all don't pay the same)
I'd tell them what you have and find out what they pay
