Same with gloves, I take a 2 or 3XL - I'm 5' 10", 175 pounds.
I think a lot of these sizes are sized for Asians (mostly where they're manufactured) with a smaller build.

I'm at the point (timewise, due to age of my helmets) now that I need both a new 1/2 shell and a FF Modular.
I don't have records but I'd guess that both are now over 10 (or so) years old.
The need for a new 1/2 shell will be a priority for next season so I have many months to decide.

For me the 1/2 is simple as I like the one I now have as is has a small "bill" and a drop-down tinted shield but it is old and I have to wear a doo-rag to prevent it from slipping/spinning on my head.

The FF Modular is a different situation.
I currently have a HJC FF Modular with internal speakers and a boom mic.
I ONLY use this helmet (on trips) when the weather is either cool/cold or in the rain OR when I want to listen to my sound system.

My biggest problem in finding a good fitting helmet is that I have an "oval" shaped head and the last time I tried on helmets the HJC fit me just about as well as any other helmets that I tried on
