Default Modular Helmet recommendations?

Looking for what you all are using and like? I’m going to go with a modular because I wear glasses and I’ve had good luck with modular in the past. Cost is a small factor, but not the whole thing. Would like something nice, lightweight, and maybe a matte finish instead of a glossy type. Just starting to do the homework on helmets now so any and all input is greatly appreciated. I did a search, but the most current info I could find was a few years back and helmets change annually/regularly. Thanks all.
Kris

Best fitting helmet I own is a Shoei Neotec II (in matte silver) modular, size large, that I never wear. It’s like new and could be for sale. If your head measures 24” or a smidge less it will fit you. I never wear it because I have a police Super Seer helmet that I prefer (half helmet). And a Daytona 3/4 open face I wear in winter. The modular and full face helmets are just too much for me.

I bought 2 HJC i90 modular helmets at the beginning of this summer.
One gloss black XL and one matte black L.
Love them.
I could never wear a full face helmet before because I couldn't get it onto my head. With the modular open and spreading it a little I can get it on my head.
I leave the chin guard up 90% of the time, it has a tinted visor that comes down.
When it rains or high speed on the freeway I put the chin guard down.
They are, I guess, lower end helmets though that would be poo pooed by the Shoei and Bell enthusiasts.
The price varies wildly depending on the size and even color, they're generally $110 to $180.
I guess I wish they protected better I'd pay more for that but they have every feature I want and are very comfortable.

Yeah I googled those Shoei Neotec helmets, those are $1,000 helmets.

People will comment how much is your head worth I'd say more than $1,000 but I'm not paying $1,000 for a helmet.
You can get a $40 helmet you can get a $150 helmet and you can get a $1,500 or more helmet.
Hard to know when to stop.

This is one answer you need to figure out yourself. Each head shape is different and what works for anyone of us is not going to fit you the same way. Go to a motorcycle store rather than online and try on helmets.

Correct fit is nearly everything. It will be quieter if it fits you. Only after it fits you, would I look at weight, the latching mechanism, and color/design. This is from a riders perspective.

I use a modular all late fall and early spring. Warmer than a shielded 3/4, better in pouring rains, and I don’t have to remove it to gas up. But my choice, and HJC is because of the way it fits my head size and shape, not because it was the lightest, coolest looking, or most expensive. It just works for me. I have helmet speakers for Bluetooth phone and tunes. A quiet well fitting helmet makes that possible…well to about 60 mph then general noise starts to interfere with classical music so I switch to meatloaf, as he cuts through pounding rain up into the 70’s.

It's all about your head, and what fits it. Helmet X may fit me wonderfully, and you painfully.

Personally, I'm wearing a Nolan N100-5 or -S. I like it's large view port, it's comfortable on my head, my glasses fit in the channel well, and the speakers don't touch and irritate my ears.

Looks like the closest Cycle Gear is in Madison. It is worth the drive to see what fits and what doesn’t.
