I bought my current '15 CVO Limitedi in Oct 2022 w/ 12k miles as my retirement bike. I retired in 2023 and with moving, building a house, etc., I haven't ridden much until this spring and now riding almost weekly with a group. I said this is my last bike but I would love to find a 2014 CVO Road King to trade, sell/buy for my current bike. If not, I'm happy with the Limited and will ride it for as long as I can. I lost the desire for the latest/greatest BS years ago. IMO, it's just throwing money down the drain.
I suppose age has a lot to do with both our purchasing and ridding habits.
Back when I was younger I switched cars and bikes like underwear but I now have two Chevy pickups ('03 & '04) and my '98 Springer and my '18 Tri-Glide and they may be the last vehicles that I will ever buy.
There's always the "latest and greatest" upgrades that we all love but I've got my trike pretty well accessorized and I have done another 5 year extended warranty and for the most part I'm very happy with it and it would take a lot of "upgrades" to even make me think twice about selling it (and losing a small fortune) to start the accessorizing project on a another trike.
Not to mention that we have two, two-seat convertibles to play with in our "limited" warm weather months.
I turn 60 on this Thursday (13 Nov) and I just had the sobering thought that my current bike (2020 FLHTK) is likely to be the last bike I'll lever buy. It has all the power I need and RDRS rider aids so I can't see any reason on the horizon to upgrade as this one's a keeper!
It should see me comfortably into retirement as long as I don't have any accidents or catastrophic failures - knock on wood.
A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do
I turned 60 this year, and I bought my 4th, and probably last Fat Boy in May.
Just in the nick of time too. My wifes employer just offered her early retirement and shes taking it, so as of Dec we are a one income household.
I am thinking of going back to a Dyna, or a new LRST. I will see what the CVO reveal has in store
All 4 of my long time, long tour riding buddies are giving it up for various reasons. I just don't enjoy the long multi day rides alone. No need for a bagger for just day rides
Point being...I thought this was my "forever" bike like OP. I have a ****ing ton invested in it.
