Like every H-D, they were what I refer to as "kit bikes". You buy them, redo the stupid **** the Moco did with better stuff, and customize them.
I keep them because I don't want to start over with a new one.

Huge fan of the shovel. Just bought a 1983 FXWG with 1300 original miles. I may have to get with you when I start my next project for advice.

This forum needs a whiners section, where we could vote a thread into.

The original post gets my vote.

Oh, one more thing:

was straight up with the salesmen

another dealer of same vehicle did though

The definition of corruption is simple. Altering the standard practice of duties and responsibilities for personal gain, financial profit or access by less than honorable means. that’s my definition
Is attempting to get the highest price for one's product "less than honorable"?
or is the use of marketing tactics (mind manipulation) salesmen are taught to influence a favorable response you disdain?

.
But my point is, the customers best interest is not at heart. The dealership sees you as a cash machine. Nothing more. They’re do whatever they have to do to separate you from your money.
are there many sales positions that aren't like that?

They are in business to make money!

One of the main reasons they love "Payment" buyers.

It is everyone's responsibility to do their research on new and trade in values, ask what the OTD price is and be prepared to have to negotiate to get there.

A smart buyer can hold their own, say NO and walk if necessary.
You said all that needed to be said in 7 lines vs an entire page.

Big corporations owning multiple dealerships was the nail in the coffin. Same thing happened with my Triumph dealership. The old shop had great people, they were all fired and replace by corporate money men who treat customers like a wallet. Sold my Triumphs and will not buy another even though Triumphs makes a few bikes I really like.

There are two dealers out of six around me that haven’t been bought out in the past 5-10 years. Some of them easier to deal with than others. All the rest extending 2-3 hours away have been bought.

I don’t blame it on the dealers, much as I dislike them, having once been in the car biz, I get it, but it’s the Moco that created this, demanding taj mahal dealerships...
