Where can I buy a Battery Tender Ring Terminal Harness? It has rings on one end for the battery, a 3 amp fused wire with a little fuse box, and an SAE connector on the other end.
I'd prefer to buy it locally and not on-line because I don't want to pay for or wait for shipping and it should be a cheap item anyway. What sort of stores sell this? Would AutoZone sell this? My local moto repair shop (Miami Cycle Works)?
I'd like one so I can hook up a cigarette power adapter for a GPS.
Here's a picture of what I'm looking for:

Here's a picture of what I'm going to connect it to (I already own this - Purchased at WalMart yesterday for $3.50):

Been there done that:
Go to your local dealer - they sell pigtails for $7.00.
You can mate the cigarette lighter plug and the pigtail but be careful about polarity. I left the fuse in the pigtail but the leads are reversed when you plug it in. Now that I know you might be confused let me explain:
You can plug the pigtail you just purchased into the pigtail on the bike (If you have one there for charging the battery during the winter...) but when you take a multimeter to the leads - the red lead in your hand will be negative and the lack lead will be the positive connection. The fuse will then be on the negative side but that is ok - it will still work.
I went to to local drug store and they had a 2 into one cigarette plug. I have two receptacles going into the adapter for the pigtail on the bike.

Is "pigtail" another word for "Battery Tender Ring Terminal Harness?"ORIGINAL: Speedkingnick

So, you're telling me if I run a fused wire from the battery that thepositive andnegative will be reversed but that it won't harm anything, correct?
There is already an SAE connector behind the left side cover on the bike, but I was concerned about plugging the Wal-Mart Cigarette Adapter directly into this because there was no fuse (or so I think - maybe there is one on the wire that I just haven't found). That's why I wanted to buy this "Battery Tender Ring Terminal Harness,"because it was fused.
Is there any harm in plugging the WalMart connector directly into the sae connector already on the bike?

The connector - like in the first picture - is the battery tender or "pigtail". Many bikes have these installed by the dealer already - just because the dealer can keep up the batteries if needed during winter months.
If you have a connector coming out of your bike (the SAE end) not the ring terminals - check polarity at the plug. You may have a battery tender installed already. If so - it is fused.
What I meant in the first post was that if you had 2 of the battery tender ends and plugged the SAE terminals together the ring terminals would be opposite polarity on one end.

WAIT - I just saw the back of the cigarette plug......
Plug that into the SAE plug on your bike and check the polarity with a multimeter - The Center of the cigarette plug is the + lead the outer case is - lead.
Take a look at your battery to see if this pigtail is installed already - you should see the fuse.....then....your good. You won't need another pigtail.
I had to add a section so that I could charge while riding - I added 2 cigarette plugs to the harness so I could charge the cell and my headset if needed while riding. (They would be charging while in the saddlebag.....)

Thanks SpeedKing. You're a genious. I'll check the bike in an hour to find that fuse. It should be 3 amps, right?
If that's the case, then I don't need the pigtail. I just need an SAE-SAE extention to run the power to the handlebars where I can mount the cigarette adapter.

Are you actually using it as a cigarette lighter?ORIGINAL: BluePotato

What is the intent for mounting it there?
Only reason for me asking is that I usually will plug in and charge when stopped or the plug will stay inside the saddlebag.
By the looks of the Auxillary Power Port Plug (Picture # 2) it looks as though it has the same plug as what is on the battery tender or "pigtail". If you need to extend it - cut the wire between the SAE connector and the plug and add wire. Recheck polarity before plugging anything into the Auxilliary Power Port Plug.

The fuse is probably 5 - 10 amps depending on gauge of wire....
SpeedKing,
My intent is for a GPS, not for lighting cigarettes. If only something as simple as a bic lighter could charge my GPS, I'd be fine!
The "TomTom One" only has 2 hours of battery life, so I'd consider keeping it plugged into the bikewhenever I'm using it. I guess I could keep the cord from the SAE connector short and just run the GPS power cord along the tank. I'll have to make a decision on that.
