Tubes and Wire Wheels
Do all wire wheels require inner-tubes? I dropped my wheel off for a tire replacement due to a flat and they are telling me that wire wheels, unless sealed at the nipples, all require inner-tubes, even though the tire says that it's a tubeless tire. Will a inner-tube work with a tubeless tire?

No, not all spoked wheels require an inner tube. However, such spoked wheels have to be effectly sealed by the manufacturer and certified as tubeless.
Not sure, but I think that running a tube in a tubless tire is not a good idea to to a greater heat build up.

In cars and trucks "most" spoked or wire rims require a "liner"(fits tight around wheel), but not a tube.

Tubes in a tubeless tire is o-k as stated, you can run a tubeless tire on a spoked rim if you have it wrapped, there is a web-site link here somewhere for a company that does this. I love the looks of a spoked rim and if I ever run a spoked rim again I will have this done so I can run the tubeless tire on them.

Miss info; unless the spoked rim is designed for tubless tires air will leak not only around the nipples but around the rim itself. Older spoked wheels use a spoke liner around the rim inside and then a tube. just like your old bicycle. You can put a tube inside any tubeless tire and any rim as long as you have the rim strip for the nipples on a spoked rim; rim stripped not need on a tubless rim.

I have tubes....what's the problem?[&:] Probably always will, as I like spokes with a nice chromed drop center rim! Just "looks" Harley-Davidson to me!!! And yes I do keep them clean!!
I don't believe in a tubless spoke wheel. over time, you be "adding air" before every long ride, IMHO.........[&:]
