I realize that it can get a bit warm in the south, but have you looked at some of the top end full face helmets? I ride with an Arai Vector, and it is extremely well ventilated. On those rare occassions that it approaches triple digits, I pop off the visor and allow for all sorts of air flow.
As for finding a good half helmet, I think the best advice has been given... go try some on. I've found that half and 3/4 helmets have the same shape and fit differences as full face helmets. There is something out there that will work for you, just keep looking. Ride safe.
What's the point in wearing these dog-bowl style helmets when they offer so little protection? Yea, I suppose the top of your head will look good in the casket, but other than that, I'd just as soon stay home if it's too hot to wear appropriate PPE. I know it's all about personal decisions and biker rights and all that crap, but I really am concerned about the obvious lack ofattention topersonal safety exhibited by so many riders these days. A helmet will not save you life if you ride at track speeds on the streets and crash. I'm talking about 100 plus mph G-forces on your body when you hit things...this is where personal judgment disallows PPE to do it's job. ...and we wonder why there is so much momentum being gained to force helmet usage in states where there are currently no helmet laws. Deaths in our sport are increasing at an increasing rate.WE are becoming our own worst enemy! So, back to the helmet recommendation...I would advise that you get yourself a real helmet....full faced and high quality....period. Being hot is irrelevant if you are interested in safety. Gosh, I hope I don't sound opinionated!!

BINGO! I ride 100 percent of the time wearing a DOT & Snell-2005 approved full-face helmet.
