The engine looks nice andsounds good for a 56 degree.
Anyone heard one up close, or better yet, ridden one yet? Think HD will adopta simular technology in their next generation twin (provided they don't use the Revolution platform)?
that's a sharp lookin engine!i respectthe fact that s&s takes notice offuture laws. i think HD will slowly transition to the revolution platform, but i think i like the x-wedge better.
The S&S Wedge motor has been out for a year. Its a nice motor. Just its useless. Go buy a Wedge motor and try to stick it in yer Harley Frame. It will not fit. This motor was built for custom motorcycle frames.
Out of all the riding I do I see very few custom motorcycles riders all the time. I see people riding a Harley. I seen a custom motorcycle the other day that was 3yr old and had 600 miles on it.
If you want parts for the Wedge they all have to be ordered, nobody stocks them.
I will just build my H-D engine for it to run for me. They have dealerships all over the United States that has a lot of parts in Stock and can work on my scooter.
If you want pull like that. there is a dudejust north of the Dothan, Alabama area that is doing 107cu on the 96cu motor that will pull harder . He just turned one out the door a couple days ago for a friend of mine.
V twin magazine has a write up about Big Bear Choppers using the X in one of their bikes. Something about how the Engine & Transmission line up required them to build a custom frame for the engine. Nice engine, I'll stick with my tried and true 88.
Don't know how true it is, but rumor has it that S&S and some other frame builders are gonna build a frame just for the wedge. Mabe even produce some scooters.
Also heard H-D put a oil cooler on their motor and passed the same emmissions that S&S passed.
Over the years S&S has been the people that has fixed some of H-D engine weaknesses.
I was at the S&S display. I asked them if they would fire one up. They did. It sounded mean! It was in a "Buellish" test bike. It looked like a load of fun. Lots of power. I have heard that BigDog will be using this engine in something.
